Full of Noises is delighted to welcome super duo Jim White and Marisa Anderson on Sunday 8 September.

Doors 7pm - concert starts 7.30pm.

The collaboration between renowned drummer Jim White and acclaimed guitarist Marisa Anderson is a natural union of two of the most intuitive players and listeners working in music.

Australian White and American Anderson are each very in-demand as collaborators in no small part because of their mastery, versatility and highly expressive playing.

The duo have each amassed an impressive body of work, and remain at the vanguard of their practices due to an insatiable curiosity and delight in exploration of new avenues of expression.

Their 2020 debut The Quickening exemplified that daring spirit as an exercise in trust: two musicians who had never performed together before committing those first moments in time to record.

2024’s Swallowtail is a deepening of that trust, White and Anderson completely immersed in the moment, each attuned to the other fluidly moving as wind and water.

Marisa Anderson channels the history of the guitar and stretches the boundaries of tradition. Her deeply original work applies elements of minimalism, electronic music, drone and 20th century classical music to compositions based on blues, jazz, gospel and country music, re-imagining the landscape of American music.

The New Yorker calls Anderson ‘one of the most distinctive guitar players of her generation’, while NPR refers to her as among ‘this era’s most powerful players’ . Her work has been featured in Billboard, Rolling Stone, NPR, SPIN, Pitchfork, the BBC and The Wire. Festival appearances include Big Ears, Pitchfork Midwinter, Le Guess Who and the Copenhagen Jazz Festival.

Jim White is an Australian drummer, songwriter, and producer. In 1992 he formed Dirty Three, an instrumental rock band, with fellow mainstays Warren Ellis on violin; and Mick Turner on guitar. White has also played with PJ Harvey, Mark Kozelek, Bonnie Prince Billy, Cat Power, Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile, Smog, The Blackeyed Susans, Kim Salmon's STM, Venom P. Stinger, The Tren Brothers, and Nina Nastasia.

We are delighted to add Tom James Scott to this sold-out bill.

Tom is a multi-instrumentalist who currently lives on the North-West coast. He primarily focuses on guitar and piano, while also employing samplers, keyboards, prepared strings, percussion and an array of analogue and digital production techniques to create an intimate, often diaristic sound world.

Since 2007 he has published solo recordings through a number of labels including Alter, xquisite releases, Students of Decay, Bo’Weavil Recordings, Where To Now?, and his own Skire imprint (established in 2013).

In recent years Scott has worked closely with filmmaker Laurence Campbell, seeing his work extend deeper in the realms of sound design and location recording. In July 2023 he released a duo album with Svitlana Nianio (‘Eye of the Sea’) on Skire. He recently began collaborating with Teresa Winter and has previously worked with Russell Walker (as Charcoal Owls), Ashley Paul and the band Liberez (w/ John Hannon, Pete Wilkins and Nina Bosnic) among others. Scott continues to perform and record both in the UK and internationally.
