Sylvia & I

Sylvia & I is the duo collaboration of Norwich-based trumpeter Chris Dowding and London-based violinist Sylvia Hallett.

They create dreamy soundscapes made from overlapping loops, and have performed around the UK, including at several improvised music nights, including Flimflam, The Klinker and Mopomoso, and also the Intraspect series curated by Bill Thompson at the University of Surrey.

Their music has been featured on the Freeness programme on BBC Radio 3, and they've also collaborated as part of Chris' group hymn.

Their most recent release is 'waterborn', on the Norwich-based CAMOjazz label, which features a 24-page zine made in collaboration with artist Steve Appleton alongside a 30min piece recorded last year at the 'Looping vs Anti-looping' event at Cafe Oto in London and is available below.

Minimum Wage Immanence Unit

We are delighted to add Minimum Wage Immanence Unit to the bill

MWIU comprises Adam Fairhall on accordion, David Birchall on guitar and Michael Perrett on bass clarinet.

They improvise music that draws as much on English folk song as it does the timbral integrations of European spectralism and the free drone excursions of Pelt.

Writing in The Wire, Daniel Spicer described their debut CD "sounding as if Terry Riley had gently commandeered the Bitches Brew sessions”.

Tickets: £5
